Ricardo Binnie, partner at Brazilian Elite firm Pinheiro Neto Advogados, accepted Latin Lawyer’s Diversity Initiative of the Year Award on behalf of the firm in May.

At the awards, Binnie told Latin Lawyer about the initiative, through which the firm organised workshops with local consultancy PapodeHomem to train male staff on how they can combat sexism and promote inclusivity within the workplace.

Binnie discussed how the initiative came from the desire to create a safe environment to talk about masculinity and create a more balanced and respectful workplace.

He emphasised the importance of listening to co-workers, educating each other and inviting everyone to the conversation – particularly those that are not typically part of the discussion.

Binnie received the award on the firm’s behalf at the ceremony in São Paulo, after it was announced as this year’s winner in January.
