Investment Trends and Opportunities in the Brazilian Electricity

The Brazilian electricity sector has been in the spotlight over recent years as Brazil strives to play a leading role in energy transition worldwide. The renewable industry has continuously expanded over the years through private investment, and sustainable solutions are being structured in light of Paris Agreement objectives, including green fuels, power storage, hydrogen, and offshore wind power projects. At the same time, the Federal Government of Brazil is promoting policies toward a green transformation of the Brazilian industrial sector, where the wide availability of renewable energy sources could play an important role in attracting international investment to the local manufacturing industry, including through green financing.

Considering this scenario, we had a discussion on Brazil’s market investment trends and opportunities in the energy sector, taking into account the influence of upcoming legislative changes under the Lula administration. We also discussed trends in the ways in which savvy sponsors are structuring their investments in Brazil, as well as the various financing structures available to market participants.
