Silicon Valley Bank’s “2020 Women in US Technology Leadership Report” revealed that the gender parity gap persists for women. Despite focus and attention on gender parity, just 42% of start-ups have at least one woman in an executive position, and 40% have at least one woman on the Board of Directors. By role, the gap is even starker: just 14% of US start-ups have a female CEO, and most of those are at companies with founding teams that include at least one woman. Only 30% of US start-ups have programs in place to increase women in leadership positions.

With the start-up fever in Brazil and companies spearheading new businesses and going public, the Chamber hosted a conversation with female executives in Brazil’s start-up ecosystem to learn about challenges and opportunities, taking into consideration the impact of COVID-19.
