Job Description

Under the direction of our schools’ Superintendent, the Pedagogical Director of English Studies is responsible for overseeing the subjects taught through the English Language (Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, PE, Music and Art). Further to this is responsible for ensuring the curriculum is taught, facilitating the curriculum review process. In addition, leading the English staff development program, observing teachers and monitoring student achievement.

Responsibilities of Position
  • Will be responsible for English coordinators and heads of department in the school.
  • Will work closely and collaboratively with Heads of Department (where applicable), fellow Directors from within the school, in particular with the Pedagogical Directors of Portuguese and Hebrew.
  • Set the annual goals for the department.
  • Meet with parents regarding questions of teaching in the department.
  • Observe English department teachers
  • Provide PD for the department both for the teachers and the coordinators.
  • Interview, hire and work to retain the coordinators, teachers and teaching assistants in the department.
  • Work closely with the School Principals on the day-to-day operations of the school.
  • Work to ensure the mission and vision are part of the teaching in our school
  • Select materials to be used in the classroom and for the library
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 4 years experience in school administration and teacher leadership
  • Successful experience in classroom teaching, and curriculum development.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to work effectively with both children and adults
  • Experience with standardized testing. Currently the school uses MAP, SAT, TOEFL, and IB tests.
  • Proven experience in bringing 21st Century Learning into the classroom with demonstrated expertise in computer skills and value the use of technology
  • The ability to multi-task effectively, possesses personal initiative, an exemplary work ethic and a proven ability to be a team player and an educatio
