Brazil and Honduras sign agreement on UN Security Council

An agreement signed between Brazil and Honduras will allow the Brazilian government to apply for a seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2022-2023 biennium. President Michel Temer and the President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández Alvarado, celebrated the accord in a bilateral meeting held during the 8th Summit of the Americas in Peru.

"We want to thank them for ceding their turn in 2022 to Brazil, and want to increase our relations with Honduras, which have always been very prosperous and will surely be even more so now," Temer said.

Also discussed was the strengthening of relations between Mercosur and the Central American Integration System (SICA), of which Honduras is a member, as well as possible cooperation initiatives between the two countries in the areas of defence, agriculture and education. Read Full Article
